Plastic decking is becoming more and more popular nowadays due to its unsurpassed durability and field performance. Plastic decking is solely made from plastic and containing no wood. Modern technology is protecting the plastic from quick aging (and getting brittle); far better today than it did years ago. Originally plastic decks were only available in light colours, but now manufacturers are finding new ways to satisfy all the customer colour requirements. Plastic decks are truly low maintenance as the only thing that needs to be done is periodic washing with water and soap, just like you would your interior wood flooring.

Azek Decks

Azek makes one of the most durable decking materials while still being price competitive. Azek is made from cellular PVC giving it the strength it needs to withstand our harsh Canadian weather. Azek was renamed from Procell after the company was bought out by Azek Building Products. Azek has the most available colours from all plastic deck boards. Azek comes in regular sized deck boards and T&G porch boards.

Trex Escapes

Escapes is the first product from Trex that is made purely out of cellular PVC. It is very similar to Azek, with a significantly lower colour selection and depending on location higher price tag.

Trex Transcend

Transcend is not a true plastic material, however with most of its properties it behaves like plastic. Inside is made out of composite which is wrapped from three sides with plastic shell. This product is yet to prove itself as it only came out in January of 2010. Interesting is a 25 year scratch and stain warranty.

VekaDeck

VekaDeck is made out of 100% PVC and colour stabilizers. VekaDeck is mainly used in East Canada due to its availability. One of the disadvantages are the shiny, forever wet look. Aside from this it`s still a very popular and durable material.
